It’s been just over a week since the biggest news in design has taken place. RH Toronto at Yorkdale has finally opened. Just over 70,000 sq. ft. spread over four floors of inspiring design, complete with a barista bar and restaurant. CEO Gary Friedman officially opening RH Toronto’s doors the 20th October. The newest edition to RH chain of galleries through the States and Canada. And only the second gallery to have a restaurant, thanks to the huge success of Three Arts Club of Chicago.
New Concept Gallery
With retail being such a different experience now days with so many purchases done via just an online image. RH’s vision is to create the opposite experience by being emersed in an interior design haven. See, feel and experience what is possible gives you a totally different dimension to interior design. The central space to each floor is open with two wings that branch off to individual rooms. Rooms are styled complete with furniture, lighting, décor, artwork and finishing textiles. If it were possible, you could literally move in.
RH Opening Party
Everything kicked off with the exclusive launch party on the Thursday evening before opening. The gallery was filled with the whos of the design and retail industry and celebrities making an appearance. Upon entering guests were greeted with a Bellini. Each level had its own personalized menu. Drinks and appetizers styled to suit design experience of each floor.
Fourth floor is home to the outdoor patio area, which hosted an extensive Napa Valley wine bar. You would think you were in a different country with the tropical plants, fountains and lanterns around! It’s amazing. DJ Chris Malinchak was the master on the decks for the night, up on the outdoor patio where you can see incredible views of city. The stunning modern collection is on the third floor. Mojitos were the choice cocktail for the launch night. It was the best mojito I’ve ever had. RH Modern steps away from its classic look catering to the tailored stream lined contemporary look. Which I love.
RH Gallery and Restaurant
Second floor is the base for the Design Atelier where you have access to experienced designers for design planning. You can find all the finishes to complete your project on this floor along with more amazing room inspiration. There are also two dedicated rooms to bathroom hardware and bath linens and bedroom textiles. Central to the first floor is the Barista Bar, serving the best artisan donuts, pastries and coffees to tide you over, before you take a wondrous exploration through the gallery.
The main floor is classically styled RH. Grand sofas, tiered crystal Rococos and clusters of Helix chandeliers suspended in the stairway entrance. With no less than five of the famous Cloud sofas by designer Timothy Oulton as you step in. The restaurant runs along the wings, on the mall entrance side. Yes, it’s not the first time you can eat at a place of retail but this is dining. It is well worth at least one visit whether you’re interested in design or you fancy a new place to eat. Either way you can’t lose.
